All E-Bus Services In Swedish City Canceled Due To Frigid Cold
From “The Exaggerated Climate Crisis” Dept.:
In the northern Swedish municipality of Skellefteå, all local buses are electric as part of an overall “sustainable public transport” initiative.
However, on Thursday, all bus services had to be canceled due to very cold temperatures, which meant that the vehicles needed to be heated to function optimally. [emphasis, links added]
Despite Skellefteå Municipality’s emphasis on electric buses to improve everyday life and the environment, it turned out that the electric vehicles were not as reliable at temperatures as low as -35 degrees Celsius [-31°F].
As a result, it was decided to stop all bus traffic between 08:00 and 14:00 and between 18:00 and 21:30 on Thursday.
According to information available on the Skellefteå bus website, it explained that the interruption in traffic was necessary to allow the e-buses to warm up and thus ensure that as much traffic as possible could be carried out.
The measure aims to minimize the risk of travelers having to wait outdoors in extreme cold and at the same time create an acceptable working environmentfor the bus drivers.
It was also announced that all regional traffic in Skellefteå will be suspended on Friday, with the exception of a few specific lines.
