Greetings Community Leaders,
FERC’s Office of Public Participation (OPP) would like to remind you of two important public comment periods that are closing soon.
Natural Gas Plan and Procedures Updates
On March 10, 2023, FERC environmental staff issued in FERC Docket No. AD23-6-000 a Notice of Intent to Update the Upland Erosion Control, Revegetation and Maintenance Plan (Plan) and the Waterbody Construction and Mitigation Procedures (Procedures) and Request for Comments . The Plan and Procedures apply to all FERC regulated natural gas pipeline projects and liquified natural gas projects. These documents provide baseline mitigation measures for construction-related activities, specifically minimizing erosion, enhancing revegetation, and minimizing the extent and duration of disturbance on wetlands and waterbodies. OPP has prepared a Plan and Procedures explainer to help you better understand how they work and the types of comments the Commission is seeking. To view the latest versions of these documents, click on the Plan and the Procedures. Please note the public comment period closes on May 9, 2023.
Environmental Justice Roundtable
On March 29, 2023, FERC hosted a Roundtable on Environmental Justice and Equity in Infrastructure Permitting. Written comments regarding the topics discussed at the Roundtable can be filed in Docket No. AD23-5-000 through May 15, 2023.
OPP is available to assist you with your questions or to help you or others participate in these important proceedings. If you have any questions, please contact us via email at opp@ferc.gov or by phone at (202) 502-6595. For additional information about OPP, you can also visit www.ferc.gov/opp.
