Picture Walt Whitman
(arguably as important
in an American literary
sense as Lincoln)
before the publication
of the 12 poems that
comprised his first draft
of "Leaves of Grass" of 1855:
"He was 6 feet tall ,
with a presence he himself
had described as magnetic.
Whitman was "self-educated,
stubbornly self-reliant and equipped
with a self-regard that
bordered on arrogance."
Here in Sheboygan,
after rewatching PBS's
great "American Experience"
biography of Manhattan
and America's great bard…
Walt Whitman.
I am of Manhatta adopted,
always looking for the bard
under my feet.

Yep. It still got attention from my fellow energy warriors. OK, I want to be old and famous.
Any thoughts about the poem.
