Driving on the I10 through the enormous wind farms in Palm Springs area reveals the myth of wind power. I've been going through there for the last 20 years and there are always whole stretches in which up to 80% of the wind turbines are inoperative. The shearing and shifting forces of the wind subject the blades and drive shafts and bearings to rapid wear. The costs of replacing these parts are prohibitive. Moreover, the costs of the raw materials and manufactured parts needed for these devices are increasing faster than the price of electrical energy, making the entire enterprise an economic disaster. Not to mention the thousands of birds killed every year by these monstrosities. This complete brain fart of a concept is emblematic of the entire green energy movement.. It seems like the advocates of open classrooms have transitioned to this movement and are determined to inflict their model for failure through the rejection of history, science, and common sense upon another critical underpinning of modern civilization.
