“Switching from coal to gas has made us vulnerable to cold weather blackouts. We need a program to address and cure this vulnerability. Action at both the State and Federal levels will be needed.”
No more coal, it is too dirty, killing thousands of US citizens every year. It releases neurotoxins directly into the air, including arsenic, mercury and lead. We just need to winterize our gas pipelines like Alberta does.
Natural gas to nuclear, N2N, as Robert Bryce likes to say.
I'm afraid that doesn't, in my opinion, count as an accurate source.
I don't know myself, I'm not playing "gotcha", but I'd need something more in depth than a "Google search" to be satisfied with the accuracy of the information.
That is an article by an Environmental Pressure Group so it's take on anything is immediately suspect. It also mentions nothing about the new breed of coal fired power stations.
To my knowledge the US hasn't built any new coal fired power stations since 2013 so looking at existing coal fired power stations in the US doesn't help to answer my original question to you.
This is 100% true. Meredith Angwin @MJANGWIN AKA "The Electric Grandma" has written about the shortcomings of just-in-time natural gas at length.
Thanks, Elusive One.

Coal plants release mercury. Period. It’s a fact. You can’t filter the emissions 100%. Get real dude
Have you checked out the latest coal fired power stations to see whether they have resolved these problems?
Yes, it is my understanding that even the newest plants still release neurotoxins. I just goggled it.

I guess you’re to lazy to google it yourself so here. The EPA just tightened regulations on its release limits.
