a few interesting milestones were hit around then that, when viewed alongside climate hysteria of the era, prove without a doubt just how challenging it will be to transition to a new energy system
As I am a long time employee of the countries largest railroad I have lost count of how many times people have asked me about high speed rail. There are two big misperceptions the general public has about commercial railroads in the US; number one is they believe the track and property is owned by the US government and second that high speed rail could run on existing commercial rail roads track. Neither is true, thus high speed passenger rail will almost certainly need to have new track built on newly acquired land. And, as Newsome and California is finding out, that is nearly impossible. You could never again build the railroad network that the US takes for granted.
