There are so many inaccuracies here starting with gasland, a well documented hoax. Energy is not an addiction any more than water is an addiction. Enough of this addiction nonsense. Energy is the basis of our civilization. Hydrocarbons still provide greater than 80% of the world’s energy. Without fracking and horizontal drilling technology you could expect energy prices to be an order of magnitude higher. Talk about social justice? Where would the poor be if energy were that expensive, a gallon of gas $15, electric bills 3 to 5 times higher? Low energy costs = lower cost of everything. Lower energy prices are social justice.
When there is an energy source that not only provides the dependability, portability and diversity of hydrocarbons, and provides all of the products that hydrocarbons provide to sustaining our civilization, then, and only then, can we stop fracking, exploring for and producing hydrocarbons. Stop before then, and you will see economic inequality not seen since medieval Europe.
