Usually neophytes that spout the idea that "intermittents" can replace fossil fuels, they really mean that it can substantially replace ELECTRICAL ENERGY but only in bright breezy sunshine. With calm nights, forgetaboutit! But in most developed countries, ELECTRICAL ENERGY is only 20% of their total energy required. So wind and power can't even attain 20% much/most of the time. WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER 80 to 90%?? (fuels, diesel fuel, jet fuel, industrial feedstocks).
