Thank you for this informative, but unsurprising information regarding Wyoming coal-fired generation retirements being delayed. Given that Wyoming produces more coal than the next six states combined, the delay in the retirement of Rocky Mountain Power's coal-fired power plants is unsurprising.

Furthermore, the problems with the commercial viability of carbon capture and storage (CCS) are well-illustrated via Saskatchewan Power's Boundary Dam 3 (BD3) CCS project. This project began in 2014, Well over $1.5 billion Canadian dollars have been spent. The cost of capturing a metric ton of CO2 works out to around $300 per tonne. About half the CO2, which is used for enhanced oil recovery eventually leaks to the atmosphere. For some details, see, "Carbon Capture at Boundary Dam 3 still an underperforming failure," April 30, 2024. by David Schlissel and Mark Kalegha https://ieefa.org/resources/carbon-capture-boundary-dam-3-still-underperforming-failure

Coal lobbyists advance the misleading claim that CCS is a mature and proven technology. Nope. Coal-fired power releases air and water pollution. Rocky Mountain Power's coal-fired power plants are responsible for hundreds of premature deaths each year.
